Events Website For American Adoption Congress
Context
American Adoption Congress is a national nonprofit organization that runs an annual conference for its members.
The problem
Before this project, the organization managed event attendee registration by hand, on paper. That meant extra time, wasted resources, and exposure to human error every time someone had to enter or reconcile a registration.
Constraints
There was no formal design brief for this project — the priority was function over appearance. The real difficulty was the registration form itself: attendees needed to submit food preferences, room preferences, ticket type, and roughly 20 other fields, several of which only appeared conditionally based on earlier answers.
Approach
We started with a discovery phase to understand how the organization ran its conference and what it needed a new system to do. From there, we proposed building a website that could handle event ticketing and membership subscriptions together, instead of as two separate, disconnected processes.
What we delivered
We built the system on WordPress using Gravity Forms and WooCommerce together to handle the multi-page, conditional registration form, event ticket sales, and membership subscriptions. There was no design requirement, but we still built a clean interface, consistent with how we approach every project.
Result
Combining memberships and event tickets into one system cut internal overhead and made it simpler for attendees to sign up for an event and a membership at the same time. American Adoption Congress ended up with automated membership subscription billing and a single, central place to track both event tickets and memberships — replacing the paper process it started with.
